Tasliya is a satellite transmitter
based in Cairo/Egypt which transmits 24 h interactive fullscreen formats in
3D optics to the entire MENA region (19 countries) daily. Viewers take part
in space games via SMS, fire catapults or make animated figures talk. This
is all visualized with 3D software by Redlynx, a Helsinki/Finland based software
producer that specializes in interactive TV formats.
FiveCast was commissioned with the complete transmission set-up, from the
delivery of the hardware, the integration of the software, the playout and
the backend system. FiveCast`s proprietary SMS processing system was used
together with the iServer. The special challenge consisted of collecting incoming
SMS news from 19 countries and forwarding this to the playout systems - or
rather, the 3D games - for visualization.
