The Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP) held their annual Joint Threat Assessment Training (JTAT) East conference which brought together leaders across law enforcement, behavioral threat assessment and corporate security to discuss strategies focused on preventing targeted violence and advancing threat assessment practices.

JTAT East is known for the strength of its community. Across sessions and conversations, a shared mission emerged: to detect, assess and mitigate threats before they escalate into real-world harm.

The Critical Role of Online Intelligence
With much of today’s threat activity developing in digital environments, the ability to surface and interpret online chatter and fragmented signals is becoming foundational to effective threat assessment.
Expanding Scope: Brand and Organizational Risk
Conversations also extended beyond physical threats to include brand protection and reputational risk, highlighting how digital visibility is now essential across multiple dimensions of risk.

JTAT East 2026 stressed that technology alone isn’t enough; the combination of innovation, expertise and collaboration is what drives real outcomes.
