Joint event at Australian Embassy in Washington, DC highlights the dual benefits of AUKUS on national security and business collaboration
Washington, DC – November 21, 2024 – The Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) and Fivecast, a world leading provider of digital intelligence solutions, joined to proudly host a highly successful discussion and business networking event yesterday at the Australian Embassy in Washington, DC. Discussions and presentations focused on the critical role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing national security and the continued collaboration between Australia and the United States to move forward critical innovations that enable a safer world. The event featured distinguished speakers, a live technology demonstration, and highlighted the ongoing partnership between Australia and the United States within the Five Eyes alliance.
Event Highlights:
Kevin Rudd, Australian Ambassador to the United States, delivered opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of international collaboration in leveraging AI for national security. “AI has a critical role to play in ensuring seamless cooperation and tech sharing between Australian and US companies into the future. AUKUS will be a key area we expect to see this cooperation expand,” the Ambassador said.
Kristin Wood, former Chief of Innovation and Technology at the CIA Open-Source Center, presented the keynote address. Wood shared her extensive experience and insights on the transformative impact of AI technologies in intelligence and security operations, underscoring the need for innovative approaches to address emerging threats. She remarked, “AI is revolutionizing the way we approach national security. It is imperative that we continue to innovate and collaborate to stay ahead of emerging threats.”
Abbigail Dobbertin, Fivecast Associate Director of Tradecraft, conducted a live demonstration of Fivecast Discovery. This cutting-edge AI tool showcased its capabilities in analyzing vast amounts of online data to identify potential security threats, illustrating the practical applications of AI in enhancing national security. Duane Rivett, VP of Strategic Growth and Co-Founder of Fivecast, spoke on celebrating the relationship between Fivecast and Austrade.
